When I was just a teenager I discovered that learning American Sign Language could really help young kids deal with some pretty horrific events. My cousin had stopped speaking altogether for about 2 years after her father was arrested for a homicide. It was really tragic and disturbing but it also taught me something about how young children interpret the world when they’ve been over taxed. Read more…
